Short Description:

Overall goal


Das Projekt leistet einen Beitrag zur Verbesserung der Gesundheitssituation, zu verbessertem Zugang zu sicherem Wasser und zu verbesserter Hygienesituation für die Bevölkerung in der Region Northern Bahr el Ghazal im Nordwesten des Südsudans, sowie zur Stärkung zivilgesellschaftlicher Organisationen.

Die Kapazitäten des ‚South Sudan Red Cross‘ (SSRC) werden gestärkt, um 4.500 Menschen in zwei Bezirken und Aweil-Stadt durch Schaffung von Zugang zu sicherem Wasser und durch verbesserte Hygienepraxis in der Verbesserung ihrer Gesundheit nachhaltig zu unterstützen.

 


Expected results


Erwartete Ergebnisse:

Resultat 1: Gestärkte operationelle Kapazitäten von 45 Rotkreuz-MitarbeiterInnen (Angestellte und Freiwillige) der Rotkreuz-Dienststelle Aweil im Wasser- und Hygiene-Bereich (WASH – Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) und in der Katastrophenbereitschaft.

Resultat 2: Verbesserter Zugang zu sicherem Wasser und Hygiene für und verbessertes Hygieneverhalten von 4.500 Menschen in zwei Bezirken (Aweil Center, Aweil South) und Aweil Stadt.

Resultat 3: Gestärkte institutionelle Kapazitäten der Gesundheitsabteilung (‚Health Department‘) des SSRC.

 


Target group / Beneficiaries


Zielgruppen:

- 45 Angestellte und Freiwillige der SSRC Dienststelle Aweil und im Headquarter;

- 4.500 Personen in 2 Bezirken (Aweil Center and Aweil South) und in Aweil Stadt.

 


Activities


Maßnahmen:

Durchführung von Trainings für MitarbeiterInnen und Freiwillige in der ‚Community Based Health and First Aid‘ (CBHFA) Methode, Trainings und Auffrischungstrainings für Freiwillige in Hygieneerziehung, in Handpumpen-Reparatur und Wasseraufbereitung;

Organisation von neuen und bestehenden Hygieneförderungsgruppen in den Gemeinden, Reparatur von Wasserstellen, Schaffung neuer/Revitalisierung bestehender Wasserkomitees, öffentlicher Veranstaltungen;

Erarbeitung eines ‚WASH Standard Indikator Kataloges‘ und eines Standard Hygieneerziehungs-Kits; Weiterentwicklung von Trainingsplänen und WASH Monitoring Tools.

 


Context


Hintergrundinformation:

Der Südsudan ist nach langem Bürgerkrieg seit 2011 unabhängig. Seit Dezember 2013 beherrscht erneut ein Konflikt das Land, der zu einer massiven Verschlechterung der humanitären Situation führte und die dringend nötige langfristige Entwicklung behindert.

Das Österreichische Rote Kreuz (ÖRK) war bereits vor der Unabhängigkeit in der Region aktiv und arbeitet seit der Gründung des SSRC 2011 mit diesem im WASH-Bereich zusammen. Seit 2014 arbeitet das SSRC mit Unterstützung des ÖRK in der Region Northern Bahr El Ghazal an der langfristigen Verbesserung der Wasser- und Hygienesituation der Bevölkerung.


Der OEZA-Kofinanzierungsanteil beträgt 36,16 Prozent.
