In Nicaragua und Guatemala haben besonders Frauen aus ländlichen Gebieten und Indigene mit Diskriminierung und wirtschaftlichen Problemen zu kämpfen und wenig Aussicht auf eine fachlich qualifizierte Ausbildung. MIRIAM setzt sich seit 1989 für Bildungsmassnahmen und Kapazitätenentwicklung für Frauen ein. Das vorliegende Projekt stellt eine begleitende Abschluß-Phase zur Sicherung der Nachhaltigkeit bereits erzielter Erfolge angesichts des Rückzugs der OEZA aus Zentralamerika 2013 dar.

Das Projektziel des Vorhabens ist die "Förderung von individueller und kollektiver Kapazitätenentwicklung für Frauen aus ländlichen Gebieten im Norden der Departamentos von León und Chinandega, Nicaragua bzw. für indigene Frauen aus Guatemala". Durch die Projektmaßnahmen wird ein Beitrag zur Erreichung des 3. Milleniumsziels der UNO "Gleichstellung und Empowerment der Frauen" angestrebt.

Vor Ort wird das Projekt mit den lokalen Vereinssitzen von MIRIAM in Somotillo/Achuapa und in Managua/Estelí sowie in Guatemala/Quetzaltenango umgesetzt.

Erwartete Resultate sind:

1. Frauen aus wirtschaftlich schwierigen Verhältnissen haben Kapazitäten zur Stärkung ihrer persönlichen und beruflichen Entwicklung, ihres Genderbewusstseins, ihrer kulturellen Identität und zur Durchsetzung ihrer Rechte erworben.

2. Die Verantwortlichen der Vereinssitze von MIRIAM in Nicaragua und Guatemala haben fachspezifische Kapazitäten für die Ausarbeitung, Mittelakquisition und effiziente und zielgerichtete Durchführung für Bildungs- bzw. Sozialprojekte mit Schwerpunkt auf Frauenrechten und Gendergerechtigkeit erworben.

3. Die Vereinssitze von MIRIAM in Nicaragua und Guatemala sind als Fachorganisationen für die Förderung von Aktivitäten und die Durchführung von Projekten für Gendergerechtigkeit, Frauen- bzw. indigene Rechte auf Gemeindeebene sowie auf regionaler, nationaler und internationaler Ebene anerkannt.

Direkt Begünstigte sind 28 Stipendiatinnen und 38 Absolventinnen, sowie 45 lokale Mitarbeiterinnen.

  • Type of Aid – Aid modalities: classifies transfers from the donor to the first recipient of funds such as budget support, core contributions and pooled programmes and funds to CSOs and multilateral organisations, project-type interventions, experts and other technical assistance, scholarships and student costs in donor countries, debt relief, administrative costs and other in-donor expenditures.
  • Purpose/ sector code: classifies the specific area of the recipient’s economic or social structure, funded by a bilateral contribution.
  • Tied/Untied: Untied aid is defined as loans and grants whose proceeds are fully and freely available to finance procurement from all OECD countries and substantially all developing countries. Transactions are considered tied unless the donor has, at the time of the aid offer, clearly specified a range of countries eligible for procurement which meets the tests for “untied” aid.
