Overall goal


Das Afro-Asiatische Institut Graz ist ein internationales Studierendenheim und Begegnungszentrum im Umfeld der Grazer Universitäten. Der multikulturelle Charakter des Hauses findet seinen Niederschlag in der gesellschaftspolitischen Kommunikation nach außen und in der Planung eines umgangreichen Bildungs- und Kulturprogramms.

In Fortführung der über 40jährigen Tätigkeit des Instituts werden allgemeine Beratungs- und Informationsleistungen, die Betreuung einer internationalen Galerie, die Bereitstellung des Hauses für Begegnung und Einzelveranstaltungen, Angebote für Schul- und Jugendgruppen, die Betreuung einer Fachbibliothek sowie die Öffentlichkeitsarbeit v. a. zu interkulturellen Themen gefördert. Als besondere Aktivitäten sind 5 BerufsschulsprecherInnenseminare, 10 Musikstammtische, 2 Arbeitskreise zum Thema "Multireligiöse Lebenswelten in der Stadt", 3 Veranstaltungen zu Krisenherden der Weltpolitik sowie eine Literaturreihe "Zeitworte" geplant.

Das AAI Graz versteht entwicklungspolitische Arbeit als Querschnittsaufgabe, in die es sich in Koordination und Kooperation mit den anderen Grazer Organisationen einbringt. Das besondere inhaltliche Anliegen ist es, Interesse an multikulturellen Themen zu wecken und zu vertiefen.

Zielgruppen sind die an Entwicklungspolitik und Kultur interessierte Bevölkerung, MultiplikatorInnen der Bildungsarbeit sowie Studierende und SchülerInnen.

Das AAI Graz ist ein von Land und Stadt Akteur im entwicklungs- und integrationspolitischen Bereich und kooperiert 2006 eng mit anderen Organisationen bei einem Lateinamerikatag sowie im fakultätsübergreifenden Projekt Global Studies zusammen.


Das Projekt wird bei einem Gesamtprojektvolumen von EUR 227.500,- in der Höhe von

EUR 80.000,- (35,16%) gefördert.

  • Type of Aid – Aid modalities: classifies transfers from the donor to the first recipient of funds such as budget support, core contributions and pooled programmes and funds to CSOs and multilateral organisations, project-type interventions, experts and other technical assistance, scholarships and student costs in donor countries, debt relief, administrative costs and other in-donor expenditures.
  • Purpose/ sector code: classifies the specific area of the recipient’s economic or social structure, funded by a bilateral contribution.
  • Tied/Untied: Untied aid is defined as loans and grants whose proceeds are fully and freely available to finance procurement from all OECD countries and substantially all developing countries. Transactions are considered tied unless the donor has, at the time of the aid offer, clearly specified a range of countries eligible for procurement which meets the tests for “untied” aid.
