Der Verein der afrikanischen Studierenden in Österreich (VAS Österreich) organisiert im Okt. 2014 in Wien die dreitägige europäische Netzwerkkonferenz ‚Youth in Diaspora: a means to support development‘, bei der Themen rund um nachhaltige Entwicklungsstrategien in Afrika diskutiert werden.

Das Programm beinhaltet Vorträge internationaler ExpertInnen zu nachhaltiger Entwicklung in Afrika, Podiumsdiskussionen, Trainings und Netzwerkarbeit. Kooperationspartner sind neben österr. NRO (u.a. VIDC, ÖJAB) Diaspora-Organisationen sowie internat. Organisationen wie ILO, UNIDO, African Union.


Die Konferenz ist eine öffentliche Veranstaltung, die sich an ein breites Zielpublikum richtet: Studierende und junge Menschen, insbesondere afrikanische Studierende in Österreich, afrikanische StudentInnen-Organisationen in Europa, ExpertInnen aus Österreich und aus afrikanischen Ländern im Bereich nachhaltige Entwicklung sowie MultiplikatorInnen aus entwicklungspolitischen Organisationen.


Ergabnisse:

- Kapazitäten im Bereich Entwicklungspolitik (u.a. Projektmanagement, Networking, Frieden u. Entwicklung, Gender, EZA, Innovation u. Industrialisierung) von 10 jungen Diaspora-Organisationen wurden durch 4 Trainings gestärkt; 30 VertreterInnen dieser Organisationen partizipieren aktiv am entwicklungspolit. Diskurs in Österreich bzw. am internat. Dialog zu nachhaltiger Entwicklung in Afrika.

- 3-tägige Konferenz mit 150 TeilnehmerInnen und Input von mind. 10 internationalen ExpertInnen (u.a. UNIDO, UNODC, ILO, African Union, Entwicklungsbank für Mali, BotschafterInnen, MinisterInnen) wurde durchgeführt. Abschlussdokument ist veröffentlicht; längerfristiger Austausch studentischer Organisationen mittels Online-Plattform etabliert.

- Neue Netzwerke zum Informationsaustausch bzw. zur Kooperation zw. afrikanischer Jugend und EZA-Akteuren wurden gebildet (5 neue Kooperationen).


Das Projekt wird bei einem Gesamtprojektvolumen von Euro 14.560,- mit Euro 7.000,- (48,08%) gefördert.

  • Type of Aid – Aid modalities: classifies transfers from the donor to the first recipient of funds such as budget support, core contributions and pooled programmes and funds to CSOs and multilateral organisations, project-type interventions, experts and other technical assistance, scholarships and student costs in donor countries, debt relief, administrative costs and other in-donor expenditures.
  • Purpose/ sector code: classifies the specific area of the recipient’s economic or social structure, funded by a bilateral contribution.
  • Tied/Untied: Untied aid is defined as loans and grants whose proceeds are fully and freely available to finance procurement from all OECD countries and substantially all developing countries. Transactions are considered tied unless the donor has, at the time of the aid offer, clearly specified a range of countries eligible for procurement which meets the tests for “untied” aid.
