Short Description:

Overall goal


Das Festival Salam Orient (Schwerpunkt 2022: Westafrika/Sahelzone Mauretanien, Mali, Senegal, Niger; 2023: Strömungen von spirituell inspirierter Kunst und Kultur aus arabischen und asiatischen Raum) findet jährlich an verschiedenen Veranstaltungsorten in Wien statt. Über Musik, Tanz, Literatur, ExpertInnen-Vorträge, bildende Kunst, Theater und Film vermittelt und beleuchtet das Festival Kunst und Kultur aus dem orientalischen Raum, islamisch geprägten Kulturen und religiösen Minderheiten aus diesen Regionen. Die kulturelle Vielfalt der in Wien lebenden migrantischen Communities wird einer breiten Öffentlichkeit nähergebracht. Das Festival schafft Raum für interkulturelle Begegnung. Workshops an Schulen in Wien und spezielle Konzerte für Kinder runden das Dialogprogramm ab. Ziel des Festivals ist es einen Rahmen für Völkerverständigung, kulturellen Dialog und Information zu einer umstrittenen und oft mit Vorurteilen behafteter Region und Kultur zu schaffen. Aufgrund des dichten Kulturprogramms im Herbst generell und aufgrund der Covid-19 Situation wird das Festival auf Ende Jänner 2022 (bisher Oktober) verlegt werden. Somit werden die nächste Festivals im Jänner 2022 und im Jänner 2023 stattfinden.


Expected results


Das Festival bietet unterschiedliche Zugangsweisen und methodische Vielfalt (Konzerte, Lesungen, Diskussionsabende, Film und Theater). Insgesamt werden für das Festival 2022 & 2023 rund 4.500 Menschen direkt erreicht, indirekt über Medien, social media, Newsletter, KooperationspartnerInnen, MultiplikatorInnen wie KünstlerInnen, Mitwirkende, Werbemittel und Website sollen weitere 50.000 Menschen indirekt erreicht werden.

Anzahl der Veranstaltungen/Publikationen/Aktivitäten: Konzerte, Dialogveranstaltungen, Buchpräsentationen, Tanz- und Musikworkshops für Schulklassen. Eine neue Festivalzentrale soll interkulturelle Kommunikation, Austausch und Begegnung fördern.


Target group / Beneficiaries


Zielgruppen sind die breite, kulturell interessierte Öffentlichkeit, Kinder und Jugendliche, Menschen mit Migrations- oder Fluchthintergrund, KünstlerInnen und Medien.

Salam Orient verzeichnet ein breites Spektrum an Partnerorganisationen, die unterschiedliche Zielgruppen ansprechen (u.a. Kulturvereine, die jeweiligen Gebietsbetreuungen der Bezirke, migrantische Vereine, Botschaften, Veranstalter ähnlicher Projekte, VIDC, NRO, Ceurabics). Synergien mit internationalen Musikfestivals werden genutzt.

Activities


Das facettenreiche Programm beinhaltet Konzerte, Lesungen, Workshops, Performances. Mit Schulprojekten schaffen das Projekt Begegnungsräume für Kinder und Jugendliche an Schulen mit einem besonders hohen Anteil an Kindern mit Migrationshintergrund. Die Workshops sind kostenlos, ihre Inhalte auf die Situation in den Schulen angepasst. Pro Festival wird es 5-6 Konzerte, 1-2 Kunst Performances bzw. Ausstellungen, 3-4 Literaturveranstaltungen, 4-6 Schulworkshops sowie 2-3 Dialogveranstaltungen geben.


Context


Das Projekt wird bei einem Gesamtprojektvolumen von Euro 130.000 mit Euro 20.000,- (14,93% des Gesamtprojektvolumens, Zweckwidmung) gefördert.
