Overall goal


Durch die Einrichtung einer seit 2011 von der ADA geförderten Stiftungsprofessur für sozial- u. kulturwissenschaftliche Entwicklungsforschung sollten Forschung und Lehre an der Universität Wien im Bereich Internationale Entwicklung gestärkt werden.


Änderungen des Vorhabens (Auslaufen des Bachelorstudiums, Einrichtung eines Masterstudiums Internationale Entwicklung, Neugestaltung d. Zusammenarbeit tiftungsprofessur-ADA) machten die Beendigung des ursprünglichen Vertrages und den Abschluss eines neuen ADA-Fördervertrages notwendig. Mit den verbleibenden Fördermitteln werden eine vierjährige Stiftungsprofessur für Internationale Entwicklung und 2 dreimonatige Gastprofessuren gefördert.


Ziele sind weiterhin die Verbesserung von Synergien zwischen Wissenschaft u. Entwicklungszusammenarbeit u. der Ausbau von Kompetenzen in der Grundlagenforschung, in Übereinstimmung mit den thematischen Schwerpunkten sowie den methodischen und theoretischen Feldern der aktuellen Entwicklungsforschung im internationalen Kontext. Weiters wird durch die Stiftungsprofessur in die Ausbildung von Studierenden für einen längeren Zeithorizont investiert.


Die Professur trägt zur Weiterentwicklung des Faches an der Universität Wien bei u. vertritt das Fach in Forschung und Lehre. Die Professur ist für die kritische Begleitung der österreichischen und internationalen Entwicklungszusammenarbeit von Bedeutung.


Die Zusammenarbeit mit der ADA soll in den Themenbereichen Entwicklungszusammenarbeit u. Politik gestärkt und ausgebaut werden, unter Berücksichtigung von Menschenrechten/ menschenrechtlichen Ansätzen, Armut, Gender und Umwelt. Weitere Themen ergeben sich aus dem jeweils aktuellen ‚Dreijahresprogramm der Österreichischen Entwicklungspolitik‘.


Es ist vorgesehen, dass die Finanzierung der Professur nach 4 Jahren von der Uni Wien übernommen wird.


Das Projekt wird bei einem Gesamtprojektvolumen von EUR 1.290.000,- in der Höhe von EUR 500.000,- (38,76%) für 4,5 Jahre gefördert.

  • Type of Aid – Aid modalities: classifies transfers from the donor to the first recipient of funds such as budget support, core contributions and pooled programmes and funds to CSOs and multilateral organisations, project-type interventions, experts and other technical assistance, scholarships and student costs in donor countries, debt relief, administrative costs and other in-donor expenditures.
  • Purpose/ sector code: classifies the specific area of the recipient’s economic or social structure, funded by a bilateral contribution.
  • Tied/Untied: Untied aid is defined as loans and grants whose proceeds are fully and freely available to finance procurement from all OECD countries and substantially all developing countries. Transactions are considered tied unless the donor has, at the time of the aid offer, clearly specified a range of countries eligible for procurement which meets the tests for “untied” aid.
