Overall goal


Der Tropensturm Stan hat im Oktober 2005 mit seinen Regenmassen in weiten Teilen Guatemalas mit Überschwemmungen und Erdrutschen große Zerstörungen angerichtet. Das gegenständliche Wiederaufbauprojekt wird in 8 Gemeinden im Westen Guatemalas gemeinsam mit österreichischen Partnerorganisationen einen Beitrag zum Wiederaufbau der betroffenen Gebiete und zur Milderung der Folgewirkungen des Hurrikan Stan bei den betroffenen ländlichen Familien leisten.


Die drei Projektziele konzentrieren sich auf:


1. Bürgerbeteiligung, Kommunikation und Abstimmung: Nach Beendigung des Projekts haben die Projektmaßnahmen zu einer Stärkung der Bürgerbeteiligung auf lokaler Ebene geführt, und die Kommunikations- und Abstimmungsprozesse in den kommunalen und munizipalen Entwicklungsräten zu Themen der Katastrophenprävention sind nachweislich verbessert.


2. Rahmenbedingungen für Einkommen schaffende produktive Maßnahmen für Frauen und Männer: Auf lokaler Ebene in 8 Gemeinden werden die vom Hurrikan Stan betroffenen Familien dahingehend unterstützt, dass sie produktive und Einkommen schaffende Aktivitäten in der Landwirtschaft, insbesondere Kleintierhaltung und Handwerk, wieder aufnehmen können.


3. Bodenkonservierung und forstwirtschaftliche Maßnahmen zur Rehabilitierung der Umwelt: In Zusammenarbeit mit den Betroffenen werden Maßnahmen zur Bodenkonservierung und Aufforstung geleistet.

  • Type of Aid – Aid modalities: classifies transfers from the donor to the first recipient of funds such as budget support, core contributions and pooled programmes and funds to CSOs and multilateral organisations, project-type interventions, experts and other technical assistance, scholarships and student costs in donor countries, debt relief, administrative costs and other in-donor expenditures.

  • Tied/Untied: Untied aid is defined as loans and grants whose proceeds are fully and freely available to finance procurement from all OECD countries and substantially all developing countries.
