Overall goal


Die Wirtschaftspartnerschaft zielt auf den Aufbau einer Baobab-Produktion im Senegal ab. Als zentralem Wirtschafts- und Beschäftigungssektor wird der Landwirtschaft im Senegal eine wichtige Rolle für die Schaffung von Wachstum, Arbeitsplätzen und Einkommen zugeschrieben. Trotz idealer Rahmenbedingungen und politischer Anstrengungen kann dieses Potential derzeit nicht ausgeschöpft werden, bleiben Produktivität und Wettbewerbsfähigkeit nicht zuletzt aufgrund mangelnder Innovations- und Investitionsbereitschaft vonseiten des Privatsektors niedrig. Im Rahmen des gegenständlichen Projekts wird – mit dem Aufbau einer Produktion für die Ernte und Verarbeitung von biologischer Baobabpulpe für den EU Markt – eine neue Möglichkeit für die Verwertung eines landesweit vorhandenen Rohstoffes geschaffen und für ländliche Bevölkerungsgruppen kommerziell nutzbar gemacht. Dazu wird das lokale Partnerunternehmen (1) organisatorisch, (2) infrastrukturell und (3) personell für die Produktion ausgestattet, der Aufbau der (4) nationalen und (5) internationalen Baobab-Lieferkette vorangetrieben und (6) die Nachhaltigkeit der Sammlung sichergestellt. Durch Aktivierung dieser kommerziell rentablen Nischenproduktion können bisher ungenutzte Ressourcen kommerziell genutzt werden. Insgesamt werden 10 Arbeitsplätze geschaffen und Einkommen von 150 Personen entlang der Wertschöpfungskette verbessert.
