Aufbau der Basisgesundheitsversorgung in der Afar Region/Zone 3

Overall goal


Ziel des Projekts ist der Aufbau und Betrieb einer flächendeckenden und nachhaltigen medizinischen Basisgrundversorgung für Afar-Familien, sowie die Verknüpfung des Programms mit dem staatlichen Gesundheitswesen und dem Notfall-Geburtshilfe-Service im Barbara-May Spital in Mille. Die primäre Zielgruppe des Projekts sind ca. 17.000 Frauen und junge Mädchen in den Bezirken Gawwaani und Gala’alu. Um im Projektgebiet die Sterberate von Frauen und Säuglingen nachhaltig zu senken, werden mobile Gesundheitsbeauftragte und traditionelle Geburtenhelferinnen (TBAs) aus- bzw. fortgebildet und mit Medikamenten und Entbindungssets ausgestattet. Der Aufbau von zwei speziellen Aufenthaltsbereichen dient der kontinuierlichen Betreuung von Risikoschwangeren/Gebärenden und Neugeborenen. Durch den Einsatz eines neuen Ambulanzwagens kann bei Notfällen eine Behandlung im nächstgelegenen Krankenhaus ermöglicht werden. Die Stellung der Frau in der Gesellschaft und der allgemeine Gesundheitszustand der Afar- Bevölkerung werden durch umfangreiche Impf- und Aufklärungskampagnen (weibliche Genitalverstümmelung, Gesundheit, etc.) wesentlich verbessert.


Erwartete Resultate:

1: Flächendeckende und nachhaltige medizinische Basisversorgung wurde aufgebaut und erleichtert den Zugang zu medizinischer Versorgung für ca. 54.500 Menschen und die einschlägige Gesundheitsberatung für ca. 17.000 Frauen.

2: Medizinisches- und personelles Aus- und Fortbildungsprogramm für 20 Gesundheitsbeauftragte und 50 Geburtshelferinnen wurde umgesetzt.

3: 2 spezielle Aufenthaltsbereiche zur Beobachtung von Risikoschwangerschaften wurden errichtet.

4: Impfaktionen für mind. 5.000 Menschen und Aufklärungskampagnen wurden durchgeführt.
