Overall goal


Die Österreichische Orient-Gesellschaft Hammer-Purgstall (ÖOG) führt Informations- und Bildungsveranstaltungen zur Orient- und Islamkunde sowie zu gegenwärtigen internen, regionalen und überregionalen Entwicklungen im Islamischen Orient durch. Ziel ist, die Bevölkerung für entwicklungspolitische Themen betreffend den Islamischen Orient zu sensibilisieren, globale Zusammenhänge zu verdeutlichen und die interkulturelle Verständigung zu fördern.


Expected results


- Durchführung von 6 Jour-fixe 'Nahost aktuell' zu aktuellen Themen mit rund 350-550 TeilnehmerInnen.

- Durchführung von rund 20 Bildungsveranstaltungen (Vorträge, Fachgespräche, Diskussionsrunden mit ExpertInnen)

- Newsletter, halbjährliches Programmheft


Target group / Beneficiaries


Ziel- und Dialoggruppen sind neben einer interessierten Öffentlichkeit JournalistInnen, WissenschafterInnen, PädagogInnen und VertreterInnen entwicklungspolitischer Institutionen.


Kooperationspartner sind politische bzw. entwicklungspolitische Institutionen, wissenschaftliche Einrichtungen (Universitätsinstitute Orientalistik, Geographie, Rechtsphilosophie, Österreichische Akademie der Wissenschaften), weitere europäische und außereuropäische Universitätsinstitute, Diplomatische Akademie, Forschungsinstitute (wie GIGA-Hamburg, SWP-Berlin, ZMO-Berlin, etc.). Die ÖOG ist eingebunden in ein überregionales Netzwerk von islam- und orientkundlichen Institutionen im In- und Ausland.

Medienpartner sind Standard, Furche, Tiroler Tageszeitung, Kleine Zeitung, Ö1.


Activities


Das breit gefächerte Bildungsangebot besteht aus Vorlesungen zur Orient- und Islamkunde sowie zu gegenwärtigen Entwicklungen im Islamischen Orient, Fachgesprächen und Diskussionsveranstaltungen zu aktuellen Themen:

Die an 6 Terminen stattfindende Jour Fixe-Reihe 'Nahost Aktuell' bietet aktuelle Informationen zu den Zusammenhängen politischer und gesellschaftlicher Entwicklungen und deren Analyse.

Darüber hinaus sind themenspezifische Vorträge und Diskussionsrunden zu Gesellschaften, Kulturen und Religionen im Orient, der Vielfalt im Islam, dem Thema Muslime und Islam in Österreich und Europa, sowie dem Balkan als Kontaktzone des Orients geplant.

Als Region wird 2020 im Fokus stehen: 'Die Kurden und ihre Region'. Dazu finden Vorträge und Fachgespräche statt, die politische, gesellschaftliche, kulturelle als auch ökonomische Entwicklungen in dieser Region analysieren.

Das Bildungsprogramm wird von Medienarbeit begleitet.

Das Projekt wird bei einem Gesamtprojektvolumen von Euro 60.700 mit Euro 30.000 (49,42%) gefördert.

  • Type of Aid – Aid modalities: classifies transfers from the donor to the first recipient of funds such as budget support, core contributions and pooled programmes and funds to CSOs and multilateral organisations, project-type interventions, experts and other technical assistance, scholarships and student costs in donor countries, debt relief, administrative costs and other in-donor expenditures.
  • Purpose/ sector code: classifies the specific area of the recipient’s economic or social structure, funded by a bilateral contribution.
  • Tied/Untied: Untied aid is defined as loans and grants whose proceeds are fully and freely available to finance procurement from all OECD countries and substantially all developing countries. Transactions are considered tied unless the donor has, at the time of the aid offer, clearly specified a range of countries eligible for procurement which meets the tests for “untied” aid.
