Overall goal


BAOBAB wurde 1993 von der Südwind Agentur, dem Österreichischen Entwicklungsdienst und der Dreikönigsaktion der Katholischen Jungschar als gemeinsame Bildungs- und Schulstelle ins Leben gerufen. Seit 1998 ist BAOBAB als Verein konstituiert, der derzeit von sechs Mitgliedsorganisationen (Dreikönigsaktion, Südwind Agentur, Horizont3000, ÖFSE, Jugend Eine Welt, SOS-Kinderdorf) getragen wird.


Die Hauptaufgaben im Projekt umfassen die Dokumentation und den Verleih von Materialien für die entwicklungspolitische Bildungsarbeit, die pädagogische Fachberatung für den Raum Wien, Aus- und Weiterbildungsmaßnahmen für LehrerInnen und MulitplikatorInnen der Bildungsarbeit, die Vernetzung von Initiativen der entwicklungspolitischen Bildungsarbeit sowie die Koordination des österreichweiten Netzwerkes entwicklungspolitischer Infotheken. Baobab koordiniert. die Wartung, Kontrolle und Weiterentwicklung des Bibliotheksbestandes und des gemeinsamen Online-Katalogs sowie die dazu nötige Weiterbildung der MitarbeiterInnen.


Als wichtiger Akteur im Bereich Globales Lernen stellt Baobab eine Website für Globales Lernen zur Verfügung (www.globaleducation.at), sie enthält verschiedene Datenbanken (u.a. Bibliotheksbestand, Bildungsangebote, Knowledgedatabase, didaktische Tipps).

Baobab kooperiert mit zahlreichen NGOs aus dem entwicklungspolitischen Bereich sowie anderen NGOs, die auch im Bereich der schulischen Bildungsarbeit tätig sind (aus den Bereichen Umwelt, Friedens- und Menschenrechtsbildung, Integration, politische Bildung usw.), mit den Verantwortlichen im BM:BWK, Pädagogischen Instituten und Akademien, Institutionen aus den Bereichen Kindergartenpädagogik, außerschulische Kinder-und Jugendarbeit u. a.


Das Projekt wird bei Gesamtkosten in der Höhe von 122.223,00 in der Höhe von EUR 71.503,00 (58,50 % des Gesamtprojektvolumen) gefördert.

  • Type of Aid – Aid modalities: classifies transfers from the donor to the first recipient of funds such as budget support, core contributions and pooled programmes and funds to CSOs and multilateral organisations, project-type interventions, experts and other technical assistance, scholarships and student costs in donor countries, debt relief, administrative costs and other in-donor expenditures.
  • Purpose/ sector code: classifies the specific area of the recipient’s economic or social structure, funded by a bilateral contribution.
  • Tied/Untied: Untied aid is defined as loans and grants whose proceeds are fully and freely available to finance procurement from all OECD countries and substantially all developing countries. Transactions are considered tied unless the donor has, at the time of the aid offer, clearly specified a range of countries eligible for procurement which meets the tests for “untied” aid.
