Overall goal


Das dreitägige internationale Kunst- und Kulturfestival „Treffpunkt Afrika: African Futurism“ im Mai 2018 in Linz beschäftigt sich auf vielfältige Weise mit zeitgenössischer Kunst-Avantgarde Afrikas sowie der afrikanischen Diaspora in Europa. Kunst- und Kulturschaffenden wird Raum gegeben, afrikanische Zukunftsszenarien und visionäre Utopien zu präsentieren und zu diskutieren. Gegenwärtige Entwicklungen am afrikanischen Kontinent abseits von gängigen "Dritte Welt"-Stereotypen sollen künstlerisch beleuchtet werden. Ein differenziertes Mosaik einer von Globalisierung, Digitalisierung und Urbanität geprägten afrikanisch-diasporischen Moderne soll entstehen, das gleichzeitig den Ausgangspunkt für eine Reflexion über westliche Projektionen darstellt. Die Stadtwerkstatt ist ein etabliertes Kulturzentrum am Donau-Ufer im Zentrum von Linz. Jährlich zählt das Haus rund 30.000 BesucherInnen.


Expected results


Mit dem internationalen 3-tägigen Kunst- und Kulturfestival werden rund 1000 BesucherInnen und zusätzlich eine regionale Breitenwirkung via Medienarbeit erreicht.


Target group / Beneficiaries


Zielgruppen sind primär junge Menschen, ein kunst-/kulturinteressiertes Publikum, afrikanische Communities aus/um Linz sowie die internationalen ExpertInnen und KünstlerInnen afrikanischer Herkunft. Mit verschiedenen kreativen/emotionalen/intellektuellen Zugängen wird ein breites Publikum erreicht. Neben dem Austausch mit der lokalen Linzer Kunst-, Kultur- und Jugendszene wird auch auf (inter)nationaler Ebene Vernetzung forciert. Eine gute Kooperation besteht sowohl mit den lokalen/regionalen Mainstream-Medien als auch mit den Freien Radios/TV in Linz und OÖ.

 


Activities


Das künstlerische Programm umfasst die Sparten Musik, Mode, Science-Fiction-Literatur, Virtual Reality und Film. Das Maßnahmenpaket unter Mitwirkung von jungen afrikanischen/ afrikanisch-europäischen KünstlerInnen und WissenschafterInnen (u.a. aus Ghana, Senegal, Nigeria, Frankreich, UK) beinhaltet ein wissenschaftliches Symposium, Performances, Installationen, Vorträge, Workshops, Lesungen, eine Filmreihe sowie Konzerte und DJ Lines, wobei das zentrale Element das 2-tägige Symposium bildet. Die geladenen Gäste sind ausgewiesene ExpertInnen/VertreterInnen zeitgenössischer Kunst/Kultur unterschiedlicher Sparten. Darüber hinaus begleiten umfangreiche Informations- und Medienarbeit die Veranstaltung.


Context


Das Projekt wird bei einem Gesamtprojektvolumen von Euro 18.000,00 mit Euro 12.000,- gefördert.
