Overall goal


Alte Menschen in Nambawala in der Region Lindi in Südtansania sind von vielfältigen Benachteiligungen betroffen. Durch die fehlende Altersvorsorge und das Zerfallen familiärer Netzwerke (Land-Stadt-Migration) leben viele alte Menschen unter der Armutsgrenze. Zudem kümmern sich viele von ihnen um andere Familienmitglieder, wie an AIDS erkrankte eigene Kinder oder verwaiste Enkel. Laut einem Forschungsprojekt der FH Kärnten und dem tansanischen Institute of Social Work, welches die Grundlagen für dieses Vorhaben liefert, versorgt jeder alte Mensch im Projektgebiet im Durchschnitt vier Enkelkinder.


Das Ziegenfinanzierungsprojekt soll einen nachhaltigen Beitrag zur sozialen Sicherheit alter Menschen und deren Angehörigen, speziell AIDS-Waisen, liefern. Dies geschieht, indem in einer ersten Phase 25 verarmten, von älteren Menschen geführten Haushalten ein Kredit in Form von zwei Ziegen (inkl. veterinärmedizinischer Grundversorgung) zur Verfügung gestellt wird. Der Beitrag der Betroffenen besteht in der Errichtung von Ziegenställen, sowie in der Bereitstellung der Futter- und Wasserversorgung. Die 'Rückzahlung' des Kredits erfolgt durch die beiden ersten geborenen weiblichen Jungtiere. Diese werden in der Folge durch die Vermittlung des lokalen Kooperationspartners CHAWALI an weitere Begünstigte weitergegeben, so dass insgesamt ein nachhaltiger Effekt erreicht wird.
