Baseline Study Rural Electrification - Phase I, 2nd Part
Kurzbeschreibung:
Projektziel
The Energy Sector in Bhutan has a very important role to play towards achieving the national development goals. Whilst in the past the main emphasis was on power generation and grid extension, the power sector program for rural electrification is now gaining momentum. It is geared to meet the aspirations of the rural communities and the Royal Government through electrification by locally generated hydropower and grid supply extension.
As rural electrification is seen as a very important tool to improve the quality of life and address poverty alleviation in the 9 FYP, this assumption should be backed by facts.
The project aims at monitoring the changes in lifestyle of an identified number of households and institutions chosen by appropriate research methodology and electrified under the Austrian assistance program "Rural Electrification" over a period of two years.
The main question to be answered is: What changes have come about with the introduction of electricity to individual households and to the villages after two years following the connection to the grid ?
