Beitrag zum Sahel und West Africa Club - Arbeitsprogramm 2017-2018

Projektziel
The objective of the Sahel Westafrica Club Secretariat (SWAC) is to strenghten regional and international strategy coordination mechanisms and to help to adapt policy visions and tools to the changing circumstances in West Africa. Main objectives of the SWAC programme of work 2017-2018 are the strenghtening of the regional governance of food and nutrition security in Westafrica with a special focus on cities and border and the effectiveness of cross-border cooperation.
Erwartete Ergebnisse
Expected results are 1) a better understanding of food and nutrition security issues in the region through strenghtening of the Regional Governance of Food and Nutrition security (RPCA, AGIR), 2) an improvement in policy maker's and key stakeholder's understanding of food system transformations and policies through analysing food systems and policies, 3) an improvement in policy maker's and development practitioner's awareness of alternative approaches to analysing cross-border co-operation (cities and borders), 4) an improvement of statistical knowledge of gender, security and urbanisation issues and 5) a better policy dialogue and policy formulation in stakeholder countries.
Zielgruppe
The estimated programm beneficiaries for 2017-2018 will be 600 participants to the bi-annual and 250 to the annual meetings, 4000 recipients of corporate communications relative to the projects, 100 attendees of the SWAC Week thematic sessions, 1000 recipients of the Crossborder publication, 40 attendees of the special envoy and Sahel partner network meetings, 350 attendees of the Sahel and West Africa Week, 3000 visitors to the SWAC Website,720 Twitter followers. ADC's contribution to the programme will therefore ensure coverage of approximately 450 beneficiaries for 2017-2018
Maßnahmen
Main activities are: ad 1) facilitating dialogue, strenghtening the Food Crises Prevention and Management Network (RPCA) , support to the Global Alliance for Resilience (AGIR), and evaluation and implementation of the Charter for Food Crisis Prevention and Management (PREGEC), ad 2) analysis (nutrition security ,urban food ), facilitating policy dialogue, ad 3) food security and information systems, analysis of women trader's networks, ad 4) production of the regional SIGI report 2018,ad5) facilitate regional policy dialogue, organising the Sahel and Westafrica Week
Hintergrundinformation
Drawing on factual studies and independent analyses, the Club devises strategic guidelines and policy tools for Members and other stakeholders. It is also a space for policy dialogue. As a member of the OECD Development Cluster, the SWAC Secretariat contributes to the work of the Organisation and ensures that West African concerns and initiatives are taken into account in global debates, particularly those on food, energy and security issues which are priority areas of Austrian’s development cooperation in West Africa.
Members of the Club and financial partners are Austria, Belgium, Canada, CILSS1, ECOWAS, the EU, France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Switzerland, the United States and UEMOA.
