Projektziel

The aim of this project is to provide life-saving humanitarian support to those most in need in the West Bank and Gaza.

Erwartete Ergebnisse

With WFP’s proposed activities,

- vulnerable and food-insecure people have improved ability to meet their food and nutrition needs throughout the year,

- vulnerable people, including youth, women and persons with disabilities, have improved access to livelihood opportunities and resilience to shocks,

- national institutions have enhanced capacities to enable more sustainable, inclusive and integrated national systems and services, including social protection,

- humanitarian and development actors have access to efficient and effective services and support throughout the year.

Zielgruppe

With the Austrian contribution, WFP will reach 231.235 internally displaced persons (IDPs) and other vulnerable people with urgently needed humanitarian services.

Location: West Bank and Gaza

Maßnahmen

With the Austrian contribution, WFP will

- provide ready-to-eat (RTE) food parcels,

- provide fresh bread made of fortified wheat flour through WFP`s contracted bakeries,

- prepare and distribute hot meals,

- distribute nutrition supplements to highly nutritionally vulnerable groups, especially to children under five and pregnant and breastfeeding women and girls.

Hintergrundinformation

The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC), released in December 2023, revealed that more than 1 in 4 households in Gaza currently face extreme hunger, and there is a risk of famine in the coming 6 months unless access to adequate food, clean water, health, and sanitation services is restored. This latest food security analysis for Gaza, which includes data from WFP, other UN agencies, and NGOs, confirmed that the entire population of Gaza – roughly 2.2 million people – is in crisis or worse levels of acute food insecurity.
