Contribution to Landmine & Cluster Munitions Monitor 2010

The Landmine and Cluster Munition Monitor (formerly "Landmine Monitor") provides monitoring on the humanitarian and developmental consequences of landmines, cluster munitions and other explosive remnants of war (ERW). An initiative of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines (ICBL) created in 1998, it provides research and monitoring for the ICBL and the Cluster Munition Coalition (CMC).
For 2010, the Landmine and Cluster Munition Monitor has made some changes to best align publication content with the needs of the international community,
particularly with respect to cluster munitions. The Monitor will produce the following research products in 2010:
" Online country profiles
" Landmine Monitor
" Cluster Munition Monitor
" Fact sheets
Landmine and Cluster Munition Monitor's key target audiences are governments,
non-governmental organizations, and international organizations, as well as
media, academics and the general public.
Landmine and Cluster Munition Monitor meets the information needs of the
international community by:
o reporting on all aspects of the landmine, cluster munitions and ERW
issues including ban policy, use, production, trade, stockpiling, clearance,
casualties, victim assistance, and support for mine action;
o analyzing trends and developments in the above-mentioned thematic
areas;
o providing annual country-by-country updates on every country in the
world;
o making research findings available in a variety of print and electronic
mediums, and translating key research findings into non-English
languages;
o maintaining a global network of experts who are available to provide
information as needed to the international community.
