Projektziel


The health of the Palestine Refugees in West Bank and Gaza is protected and their disease burden is reduced.


Erwartete Ergebnisse


1) Continuation of UNRWA's people-centered primary health care system in the Palestinian Territories. Services provided include: outpatient health care and medical services related to non-communicable and communicable diseases, maternal and child health care, school health, mental health, disability care and pharmaceutical services.

2) Efficient Hospital Support Services continue to be provided to Palestine refugees in the West Bank and Gaza.

3) Doctors and Senior Health Staff are able to provide effective leadership and direction through receiving relevant training.

 


Zielgruppe


This grant contributes to UNRWA’s provision of health care services to more than 370,000 Palestine Refugees in Gaza and the West Bank. The target group also comprises infants and children, pregnant women and patients with diabetes.

UNRWA has a total of 65 health centers in the Palestinian Territories in which they provide their medical services to Palestinian refugees (22 in the Gaza Strip and 43 in the West Bank). Moreover, UNRWA contracted 11 Hospitals in the West Bank and 7 in the Gaza Strip to provide surgical services including gynecology and delivery operations

 


Maßnahmen


This grant will contribute to ensure adequate and timely availability of essential medicines and supplies through

- the procurement of medical and laboratory supplies as well as

- educational materials

for UNRWA Health Clinics in the West Bank and Gaza.

 


Hintergrundinformation


The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) has been providing health care for Palestine refugees in the Near East for over 6 decades. Today, a rapidly growing Population of over 5.3 Million Palestine refugees is eligible for UNRWA Services in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

UNRWA's network of primary health care facilities and mobile clinics provides the foundation of its health assistance to refugees, offering preventive, basic and advanced medical care services tailored to each stage of life.

In total, the UNRWA Health Program amounts to 118.9 million USD for the Region and, within that, to 58.5 million USD for West Bank and Gaza.
