Stärkung der Honig- und Bienenwachswertschöpfungsketten in Burkina Faso
Kurzbeschreibung:
Projektziel
The aim of this project is to set up a sustainable source of 5 MT beeswax for OLVEA in Burkina Faso, improving the livelihood of around 320 beekeepers, shea-, mango and cashew producers in the Hauts-Bassin and Cascades region.
Erwartete Ergebnisse
320 apiculture producers will receive access to modern beekeeping equipment and intensive training with a focus on the production of honey, beeswax and propolis. 2 additional jobs with the local partner will have been created. The goal is to produce 5MT of beeswax and 26 MT of honey per year, creating additional revenue for farmers. At least 4 team members of OLVEA and Wend Puiré each will receive training of trainer’s session on financial education. 25% of all beneficiaries are female. At least 50% of all beekeepers have been switched to mobile payment.
Zielgruppe
The beekeepers will benefit of the equipment they have purchased with a lifespan of 15 years and access to markets. Increased revenues, better financial management and access to financial services will especially benefit women producers. Bees play a key role in cross-pollination, thereby contributing to the regional bio-diversity.
Maßnahmen
The main components of the project consist in (1) organizing new beekeepers in existing beekeeper groups of Wend Puiré; (2) providing technical assistance to strengthen the capacities of Wend Puiré; (3) Supplying modern equipment and beekeeping training to each producer; (4) enhancing financial capabilities of producers; (5) studying and capitalizing on pollination effects of beekeeping. The project design combines both financial literacy and agricultural production.
