Projektziel


The project Strengthening the Capacity of Civil Society Organizations in Africa to Combat Corruption and Contribute to the UNCAC Review Process-Phase II builds on the results of the previous phase implemented by the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). The project aims at further strengthening the ability of African civil society to fight corruption by improving the understanding of UNCAC and by facilitating their engagement with multiple stakeholders to contribute to UNCAC review cycles. Following three concrete outcomes are envisaged:


1. African CSOs and relevant stakeholders have increased their knowledge of UNCAC and their capacity to contribute meaningfully to the ongoing review, as well as their ability to replicate the training in their country or region.


2. African CSOs have gained skills and resources to work in partnership with the private sector on the UNCAC review process and raise awareness at local, regional and international level through UNODC campaigns and advocacy material. Five small grants are provided every year to African CSOs for projects aiming at working with the private sector to sensitize Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs).


3. African CSOs have enhanced their networks with relevant stakeholders and have contributed to the review process together with their government. They will also be equipped to network, disseminate advocacy material and replicate this kind of training with the assistance of three newly established regional hubs in Africa.


Direct Beneficiaries of this project are around 75 African NGOs active in good governance and anti-corruption with a focus on ADA prioritiy countires, Mozambique, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia and Uganda. Indirect Beneficiaries are UNCAC coalition members especially in African countries, other African CSOs targeted by outreach efforts, the private sector, in particular SMEs and the wider public.

  • Modalität: definiert die Art der Hilfe (z.B: Sektorbudgethilfe, Kernbeiträge an multilaterale Institutionen, Projekthilfe, Technische Assistenz (personelle Hilfe), Bildungsarbeit im Inland, etc.)
  • Sektor: bezeichnet den wirtschaftlichen oder sozialen Sektor des Partnerlandes, welcher mit dem Projekt/Programm unterstützt wird.
  • Tied/Untied: Ungebundene (untied) Hilfe ermöglicht dem Projektpartner im Entwicklungsland - unter Befolgung der lokalen Beschaffungsregeln - freie Entscheidung über die Herkunftsländer im Zuge der Beschaffung von Dienstleistungen und Waren. Gebundene (tied) Hilfe verknüpft die Hilfsleistung auf die Beschaffung aus dem Geberland oder aus einem eingeschränkten Kreis von Ländern.
