Support for vulnerable displaced Syrians in Jordan, II
Kurzbeschreibung:
Projektziel
As the situation in Syria deteriorates, hundreds of thousands of Syrians continue to seek refuge in Jordan. On-going monitoring by CARE and other actors demonstrates that the vast majority of refugees are struggling to make ends meet in urban areas. CARE's assessment data shows that they are dispersed, unaware of services, running out of money and taking on unsustainable debt in order to meet their needs.
This project will thus deliver assistance to vulnerable Syrian refugee families and members of the host community living in impoverished urban areas in Northern Jordan - in particular through its existing refugee centre in Mufraq.
A total of 1,500 vulnerable households will be directly targeted. 75% of the total beneficiaries in each target area will be vulnerable Syrian households, and 25% will be vulnerable Jordanian households from the host community. The households are registered a, receive an initial vulnerability assessment and then attend a formal information session where they are provided with essential information on their rights and available services provided by CARE and other organizations.
• Based on the vulnerability assessment, 700 vulnerable households (out of the 1,500 households) will receive targeted case management to determine case by case what specific needs the households have and which services they can receive.
• 700 households (also out of the total 1,500 households) will receive emergency cash assistance in the following months, for instance for payment of medical bills.
• To help refugees cope with the approaching winter, 300 extremely vulnerable households from among the target group will have received urgent winterization cash assistance by December 2013.
