Support of the Demining Programme in Bosnia Herzegovina 8/2007 - 7/2009
Kurzbeschreibung:
Projektziel
Bosnia-Herzegovina is one of the most mine-contaminated countries in the world and the most mine contaminated country in South-Eastern Europe. The presence of anti-personal landmines and unexploded ordnance (UXO) ist still, and will be for many years, a major problem not only for the reconstruction of the country, but also for the economic development and the overall security. There are estimates of over 670.000 landminses and 650.000 UXO on 10.000 locations spread throughout the country.
The project will enable demining and technical survey of agricultural and resettlement areas in the municipalities Velika Kladusa, Bosanska, Krupa, Cazin, Bihac, Zavidovici and Maglaj. General surveys are implemented by the Bosna Herzegovina Mine Action Centre (BH MAC) in mine suspected areas providing conditions for demining of 56.035 m² of land, conducting technical survey activities on 86.442 m² . 170.000 m² of land is expected to be released through mechanical ground preparation followed by BH Army deminers. Releasing of mine-free land and marking of mine suspected land will assure reconstruction and economic recovery of previous mine risk areas, as well as the solution to security issues caused by landmines in the project area.
