Projektziel


The overall objective of the assignment is to support the Ministry Environment of the Republic of Moldova in designing and formulating a Concept Note for an Ecosystem-based Adaptation Project in Moldova to be submitted to the Green Climate Fund (GCF).


Erwartete Ergebnisse


Based on the objective, the assignment foresees to achieve the following outcome: Task 1: Stocktaking report, Task 2: Scoping Study as a revised draft project concept, Task 3: the Organization of three Consultation Workshops, Task 4: final draft of GCF Concept Note.


Zielgruppe


The Scoping Study shall help to identify and justify the specific target group/beneficiaries (e.g. vulnerable rural population, local government units, local enterprises, farmers, etc.) and key stakeholders of the future project.


Maßnahmen


-Task 1: Relevant national plans, strategies and policies will be taken into account and included.

-Task 2: The existing preliminary project concept will be reviewed and revised and therefore better aligned with GCF investment criteria

-Task 3: Two workshops at local level and one national consultation workshop will be organized.

-Task 4: Formulate the CN based on the results of Tasks 1 – 3, especially the Consultation Workshops.


Hintergrundinformation


The main problem to be addressed by the proposed project is the increasing impact of climate change on natural ecosystems and water security in the southern region of Moldova. The Project Assignment is a preparatory and accompanying step for implementing the GCF financed project Climate Change Adaptation Nature-Based solutions in semi-arid ecosystems to increase rural resilience in Moldova. The project will develop a methodology that fully takes into account the interlinkages between climate-change adaptation and biodiversity, in particular the role Nature-based solutions (NbS) and Ecosystem based approach (EbA) can play in this context. The GCF technical guidelines Simplified Approval Process (SAP) projects for forests and land-use, ecosystems and water security will be consulted for reference.
